Workshops

What we offer

Owl Robotics offers a multitude of workshops for members to participate in, ranging from introductory CAD and design, to electrical and programming. We offer these workshops not only as a way to help students learn the skills they need to succeed in our competitions, but to apply these skills outside of our organization.

As reservations permit, we only have a short amount of time available to present our lectures, so if you are interested in participating in these workshops it is crucial that you download and install any software we will be using ahead of time, so we can dedicate the lesson to teaching you how to use it. Below includes some software we use within Owl Robotics and what they are used for, so feel free to download them to be prepared. If you have any questions or problems, please reach out to us on discord and our officers will be happy assist.

Software

Visual Studio Code - An Integrated Development Environment (IDE) developed by Microsoft, used as a comprehensive tool used for developing computer programs. We will be using it to program the VEX U robots.

Orca Slicer - This is a free and open-source 3D printing slicer program, similar to the Bamboo Slicer, used for transferring 3D models from CAD programs like SolidWorks and Inventor into g-files that can be adjusted and printed on our Creality 3D printers.

Autodesk Inventor - This is a computer-aided design (CAD) software developed by Autodesk, used for 3D mechanical design, simulation, visualization, and modeling. We teach members Inventor instead of Solidworks for ease of student registration and is the software we primarily use for all our 3D part designs.
